Groom and Bride Become Partners after Kanyadan

The word ‘kanya’ is for the female and ‘dan’ stands for gifting away. Kanyadan therefore means handing the bride by her father over to the bridegroom after the Hindu Bharat matrimony. This Kanyadan custom is prevalent in some other religions around the world also, though under different names. The bride’s parents perform a worship of the groom. The groom is offered honey and yoghurt, signifying sweetness and coolness in dealings with the bride. The bride and groom henceforth become inseparable life partners. Have a gift of a bride or join a groom by visiting Laj Marriage Bureau.

Kanyadan or gifting away of the daughter is made by her father and accepted by the groom in Hindu Indian marriage. At Kanyadan ceremony, the bride’s father says to the groom, “I give you my daughter in marriage, promise to be moderate in observance of Dharma, Artha and Kama.” The groom touched the bride’s right shoulder with his right hand and promises to protect and maintain her dignity with love, appreciate her merits and forgive her shortcomings. The groom accepts and grasps the hand of the bride and promises to be her saviour and well wisher. As directed by the priest, the couple now recite the following verse, “Let all present here know that our hearts have mingled together like water. Let breath, let God and the Goddess of learning keep us joined.” All those present in the mandap, specially relatives from both sides, say, “God has made you husband and wife, and may God give you both a long, happy, healthy and fruitful life.” Flowers are showered over the couple. Hindu Bharat matrimony has charms of its own. Parents and relatives from both sides embrace each other in happiness. Create your own Indian matrimonial registration to become husband and wife.
